There is a ghost station between Edgecliff and Bondi Junction. In the 1970s space was dedicated for Woollahra station, but it was never completed because local NIMBYs took it to the High Court.

There is a ghost station between Edgecliff and Bondi Junction. In the 1970s space was dedicated for Woollahra station, but it was never completed because local NIMBYs took it to the High Court.
We're calling for the station to be completed and a large Edgecliff-Woollahra Transport Oriented Development to be constructed around it. We can use value capture from the upzoning to pay for the station to be completed (similar stations have cost $20-40m in recent years).
With the Rosehill Racecourse deal falling through, the city needs a Plan B for thousands of new homes. Woollahra Council has less people living in it today than it did in 2016, and local schools such as Vaucluse Public have seen enrolments dip by more than 30% in just the last three years.
With a median house price of $4.7m, Woollahra is also one of the most unaffordable places on the planet. Combining smart infrastructure investments with putting homes where they're most needed is the best way out of our housing crisis.
Our advocacy for this project has already been covered by The Guardian, and last week the AFR reported that the State Government has already scoped out the work. If we push for it, this could really happen!
